As anticipated, Stella's blood work came back completely normal. Hooray :)
She will see the oncologist in 3 months for her 2nd check-up. We are to bring Stella back sooner if we notice any new lumps or bumps.
Keeping our fingers crossed...
I created this blog to give pet owners like you a chance to follow my Pug's journey with Mast Cell Tumor treatment through a pet owner's perspective - not through the confusing and often-times scary clinical world. I am assuming that readers already have basic knowledge of MCT’S (grading, excision requirements, etc). I do not have any veterinary training and am not an expert on pet health. Please consult with your veterinarian immediately if you suspect your pet has a MCT.
I'm glad Stella is doing great. Hang in there! My dog Tug is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever and we are actively battling MCTs and becoming discouraged. His first surgery was a year ago this coming september. I found another lump this morning. He is my buddy and hunting partner. He has had other skin issues which I am sure contributed to the MCTs which thrive on skin inflammation. I will probably have this one removed but hate to keep cutting on him yearly, not to mention the vet bills.
